There are several kinds of disks to
choose from according to the kind
of work you want to do: cutting ceramics;
marble, concrete, granite, basalt. There
are also disks for multi-purpose tasks.
How to disinguish between the kinds of disks:
1. Marble- will have a large amount
of rough diamonds - industrial quality diamonds
that cover the entire area of the edges of the
disk. It will also have cuts for cooling.
2. Multi-purpose for marble, concrete and granite-
will have diamonds molded into the disk and they
will stick out only a bit from the surface of the disk.
3. Basalt and granite - will have diamonds imbedded
inside the disk and somewhat resembles the multi-purpose
disk. It's often difficult to distinguish between the two.
It contains fewer diamonds than the multi-purpose disk.
The angle of the diamonds is different than that of the
angle in the multi-purpose disk. The biggest difference
is the price! This disk of obviously more expensive.
If you plan on working with granite, don't buy a disk
without a money back guarantee! If part of the disk cracks
or breaks, you must stop working immediately and change the disk.
Safety precautions: You must work with protective eyewear,
clothes that cover the body, earplugs, covering over the
mouth and nose and it is highly recommended to use a
transparant mask, similar to a welder's mask.
